Garuda is considered as Supreme Bird and is Lord Venekateshwara’s Vehicle. Brahma Deva is the Son of Srimahavishnu and he perfomed Brahmotsav for the first time. After his name this Utsav is named as “Brahmotsavam”. During these nine days, God would be decorated in different avatars with respective vehicles. Brahmotsav is especially famous for Garuda Utsav.
- 1st day Pedda Sesha Vahan
- 2nd day Hamsa Vahan
- 3rd day Mutyapu Vahan
- 4th day Sarvabhoopal Vahan
- 5th day Garuda Vahan
- 6th day Swarnarath Utsav and Gaja Vahan
- 7th day Chandraprabha Vahan
- 8th day Ashwa Vahan
- 9th day Chakra Bath.
Importance of Garuda Utsav:
A known fact that there would be lakhs of people during these days especially on the 5th day i.e, Garuda Utsav. In Puranas, it is mentioned that whoever takes the darshan of Lord Venkateshwara sitting on Garuda and continuously chanting Lord’s Mantra” Om Namo Narayanaya, Govinda Govindaaaaa” will not have Rebirth.
Kaliyug’s live (Prathyaksha) God:
Lord Venkateshwara came to the earth to protect mankind from Kali’s effect. It is said those who Visit Tirumala by walk,takes bath in Swamy Pushkarini,have darshan of Varaha swamy and finally enters Ananda Nilayam and have darshan of Lord Venkateshwara will be relieved from all Sins. Among all days of Brahmotsav, Garudotsav is considered as Special event. On the day of Garudotsav , which actually begins at 7 pm all the Maadaveedhi’s or Tiruveedhi(streets) will be completely occupied by devotees from 1 pm and from then on devotees will be longing for the Darshan of Lord Venkateshwara Swamy.
On this day at least 5 lakhs people eagerly awaits for the Darshan of God with great Bhakti and dedication. God is decorated with more ornaments on Garuda Utsav than any other days of Brahmotsav. People have great Life Time opportunity to see the Lord Venkateshwara’s Beauty and great Grandeur. It is possible only on this auspicious and special Day.
